Status and Character of our Club
One of the first topics that were brought up had to with the fact that we should not pursue blindly to increase the members of our Club. Our Club must maintain a reputation in such a manner that those who are invited to join should feel the privilege and prestige of joining our Club.
Nevertheless, it goes without saying that we must do something about the dwindling membership number. To this end, we had a long discussion on strategy of accomplishing the goal.
• To help foster current and potential member relations, the Rotary Website may be an area where members may have their individual ID and PWs to engage in posting pictures, making comments and facilitating some active communication and involvement among members. The site may be active in introducing accomplishments or news worthy of being shared of and among members.
• To ensure that those newly recruited members are mentored by the Rotarian who has introduced them to the club.
• To ensure that the club is not misunderstood as having religious-affiliation.
Getting to know the members of our Club
Some of the members mentioned that there were not too many opportunities for members to interact and to get acquainted with each other. One possibility is to have more session where the newly joined members can talk about their backgrounds. It was also mentioned that some of the old timers can also talk about themselves so that the new members can get to know them better.
• That all lunch sessions begin with the opportunity to become better-acquainted to fellow members rather than just proceeding to sit at the tables (with no opportunity of getting to meet members).
Review of the Program Proceedings
Instead of sticking to the traditional ways of carrying out our meetings. Many felt that it is time for us to review this program proceedings one by one.
One example is for anyone to raise one's hand and to talk about some items of interest before the speech. This could be called 'Happy News Time'.
The review should include the singing of Grace at the beginning of the meeting. It is recommended that the BOD discuss this officially and put this to vote.
About the Annual Ball
A point was made that there are not too much enthusiasm among the members about enthusiastic participation. A review of the past success should be reviewed to improve this feeling according to some members of the Committee.
Purpose of Our Club
From time to time, members thought that we should review the purpose of our Club, especially regarding to the active work of service which were more abundant in the past.
